The Safety
Protocol

Technical analysis of global protection certifications and VELOCE engineering requirements.

01. ECE 22.06: The New Gold Standard

The Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) 22.06 is currently the most stringent safety certification globally. Unlike its predecessor (22.05), the 22.06 standard includes rotational impact testing, which measures how a helmet handles twisting forces—the leading cause of brain trauma in motorcycle accidents.

Key Requirements:

  • 18 point impact testing (up from 6)
  • Rotational acceleration testing
  • Low and high speed impact testing
  • Visor penetration and shatter resistance

02. DOT FMVSS 218

The Department of Transportation (DOT) standard is the legal requirement for the United States. While it ensures basic penetration and impact protection, it is a self-certification system. At VELOCE, every helmet we supply that is DOT certified also meets or exceeds ECE 22.06 requirements.

03. ISI: Indian Standards Institute

For our riders in India, ISI certification is mandatory. VELOCE gear is rigorously tested to ensure compliance with IS 4151, ensuring domestic legality without compromising global safety metrics.
